Using Video to Increase Your Engagement

It’s true! Video is BLOWING UP! Periscope, SnapChat, Facebook Live…it seems it’s all about video these days!

So, how can you get a little piece of that pie?

It’s simple actually! Get with the video-program. Seriously! Not only should you be making videos to help connect and show your pretty little face but, you should also be sharing videos in general.

With YouTube in the lead last year for video, Facebook decided it wanted to be number one (as per usual). So, they started increasing the views on video.

You don’t want to share a ton of videos but taking the actual link and placing them in the post or even uploading them through Facebook can seriously give your page a boost.

Right now video is more likely to be shared, liked, and commented on than plain text or images.

So what are you waiting for…jump on the video wagon!

Here’s 10 ideas on videos that you can create for your business.

#1 → Q+A

This is one of the easiest ways to start with video when you aren’t sure what to do or say. One of the best ways to do this if you don’t want to go Live is to have a post where your audience can ask questions and answer them in a video. If you’re new to business and not many people seem to be asking questions on your posts, that’s ok! Just answer some of the most asked questions in your industry or things you feel you can help people with.

#2 → Behind the Scenes

People love to see behind the scenes…kind of how we like looking in a celebrities purse. You just want to know…curiosity. Show them the project you’re working on, how you create your products, or show them your whiteboard and how you organize your schedule…it really doesn’t matter. Just connecting with people and showing them a little piece of you helps build relationships and it also increases your know, like, and trust factor…bonus!

#3 → Weekly Tips

This is always great because it help you become consistent and when you produce more than one video – your engagement is going to go crazy. It is better to post a short video with tips than it is to create a graphic post or text post on tips. If you commit to weekly videos, your engagement is sure to blow up!

#4 → Make an Announcement

Instead of posting as usual or sending out an email…which you can still do both, make a video and upload it to tell your potential customers your big announcement. From releasing new products or services to even talking about how you’re moving offices. People love to hear what is going on in other people’s lives!

#5 → Blog Post Vlog

That’s right…take that blog post and turn it into a Vlog, it’s the cool thing to do these days. Your audience will love the change-up of interacting on a blog to a vlog.

#6 → Introduce yourself

This is great because even if you’ve been around for a while, there is a chance you probably have new people on your social pages that haven’t really gotten to know you. By introducing yourself, what you do, and who you are, you can create some buzz quickly. Remember, not everyone sees your posts so there is a huge chances that you have a lot of people who would love to know this information.

#7 → Share your favorite tools

This is kind of like the behind the scenes, letting people know what you use or do to in your business…or hey, even your personal life. It doesn’t matter what you do for a living, you surely have some tools that you use that relates to your business. Share your favorites with your audience.

#8 → Talk about your latest product/service

Sometimes people miss when we add new stuff to our services or our product line. Instead of posting again that you’re now carrying a new fall line you should jump on video and let them know. This is good for two reasons. First, you keep your audience up to date and let them know what you have available and second, you will get more engagement from a video than you will just posting your latest products or services so creating a video could increase your sales quickly.

#9 → Ask

If you are new to business this is a great one. Ask your audience….anything! Ask them what the do, what they want to learn, to share something with you, to talk about something related to your industry, if they have kids, where they like to go on vacation…it really doesn’t matter. Not only will you be engaging with your audience, you’ll get to know your ideal clients better which helps you when it comes to marketing and your Facebook ads!

#10 → 10 things you don’t know about me

Hey, it doesn’t have to be all work and no play! Do something FUN!!!! Just an idea, make a list of 10 things that your audience may not know about you and share it with them. Of course you don’t have to do that specifically but, think FUN and outside of the box. Something that has nothing to do with your business that simply just interacts with potential clients.

So, what did you think? Do you think you can take one of these ten ideas and turn them into your next video? Don’t hold back….it’s scary at first (I felt the same way) and stuff is probably going to go wrong…you’ll go Live and your husband will call and cut you off, your phone will fall off the holder you have, or you will record an entire Facebook Live video sideways…all things I have done! It’s okay, no one is perfect and the fact that you can laugh about it and blow it off will make your audience love you that much more!
