The Simple Facebook Mistake you could be making

Are you making this mistake?

When it comes to your business, it seems like there is a never-ending list of things to do. While some things are big and oh so important to the success of your business, sometimes it’s just something little that is easily passed over but can easily cost you new clients!

Recently, I have been working on growing my Facebook group and as I add people to the group, I always check their profile (no fake accounts allowed in my group!). As I check each persons profile I’m actually surprised by the amount of people making this small but huge mistake! So, I thought I better share it with you so that you can make sure you’re not making it too.

So what is this simple mistake?

When someone visits your personal Facebook profile you should always make sure that you have a link to your business page. ALWAYS! I can’t tell you how many people leave this off of their personal profile and miss out on likes…and free likes at that!

Not only that, sometimes the job description is there but the link doesn’t work. So, today I’m going to show you not only how you can fix this but how you can also amp it up a little bit so that people can find you and immediately know who you are and what you do!

So, how can you utilize your personal profile to bring in free traffic to your business page? Keep reading…

 

 

  1. This is just an extra step that I always add to my cover images (see more about this below). It’s the direct link to my business page.
  2. This is the intro and while most people would just say ‘I love wine, puppies, and realty tv’, I use this to advertise what I do and my business website (again, FREE advertising).
  3. Adding my job with the link to my Facebook page. Make sure this actually links through by testing it.

Extra Tip: If you have more than one page (say you want to link to your Graphic Design page and maybe you’re Young Living Page) you can link as many as you need. Just list them as jobs and link the page.

Network Marketers…you should know by now that I am not going to leave you out! I can’t tell you how many times I have went to someones page and it says they are an Advisor at Advocare. Then, they link their job to Advocare’s page…ultimately sending traffic to a corporate page and website, that you don’t even own. This is a huge pet peeve of mine! You should absolutely have a business page for more than one reason.

Taking it a step further!

Next, I want to show you what I do with my cover image photo.

 

Using your personal cover image to advertise your business page is another great way to get free traffic (likes, etc). It’s one of my favorite ways for people I know but don’t want to send them messages, invite them to my page, or hound the heck out of them to join my page (that’s no way to do business by the way!).

I especially like this because my business page name and my name are both the same. So if someone was searching for me, it’s possible they might land on my personal page. This might not be the case for you but, I still like to do this because as we comment on other pages, people we don’t know might be inclined to click our page and find out what we do, who we are, etc. Again…this is more free traffic to our page.

As you can see here, you can add something this simple to any cover image simply by using Pic Monkey or Canva. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Pic Monkey has a free version that would allow you to do this.

I also take it a step further by adding text to every single image (yes, that means my profile image and my cover image). The link to my business page is here so that all they have to do is click through. I’ve also included a link to my website because…you never know {and again, FREE advertisement}.

Extra Tip: I do this on my business page as well. I always include a small excerpt that has a link to my latest and greatest opt-in offer as well as a link to my private Facebook group or my website. Depending on if I am promoting something or when Southern Success Society is opening it’s doors, I’ll also use it as a place to include the link to the waiting list or the sales page. {You can get on the waiting list here.} I do this on my profile image as well – you’d be surprised how many people click these and scroll through them!

Don’t be shy! One of the reasons people leave this off on purpose is because they are scared that the public, their friends, and their families will think they are crazy! Truth… you probably are a little crazy, I mean to go chasing after your dreams and building your own business so that you can live on your own terms…don’t we kind of have to be? Take the chance! Let those people be a reason for you to succeed and push yourself not a reason to hold you back!

I can tell you from my own experience that I don’t have to run ads to get likes to my Facebook page. Because I am active online and inside of groups, people find me that are actually looking for me. The best part…these are FREE likes and interactions from people who truly are interested in me/my business.
